What is MPLS Network?
MPLS is a protocol for packet-switched networks. It is protocol-independent and scalable. MPLS assigns labels to each data packet. The router reads the label to identify an LSP and uses that information to decide which link to forward the packet to. Because it uses different labels for each hop, it can use either a simple or a fast forwarding engine. The MPLS protocol is implemented in hardware.
