Instagram‘s latest venture. Instagram has launched a new feature that will be available in stories, the feature is called Reels and is very similar to TikTok which is growing ever larger.
The Reels feature allows you to make 15-second videos where you can add music and effects and then post and, with some luck, end up on “Top Reels” under the Explore tab. In addition to selecting music from the library contained in the app, you can also use the audio from other users’ videos and mix them with your own material.
But isn’t Reels a copy of TikTok? Instagram product manager Robby Stein responded in an interview “No two products are exactly the same, and at the end of the day, sharing video with music is a pretty universal idea we think everyone might be interested in using. The focus has been on how to make this a unique format for us. ” He continues: “Your friends are already all on Instagram. I think only true of Instagram.”

How does Instagram Reels work?
Instagram Reels can be found in stories next to Boomerang and Superzoom, here you can either record a video without audio, use the audio from another user’s Reel that you found through, for example, hashtags or explore, or add music from Instagram’s audio library. You select the audio for your video and then you can record or upload one or more videos to show to the selected audio clip.
You can also add text that appears throughout or only selected parts of your video.
Upload your Reels
When you are satisfied with your video, upload it as an audience story, a story for close friends, or send it to one or more users. Reels that are uploaded as the public can also be viewed under the Top Reels on the Explore page.
As with regular stories, you can save your Reels in as a highlight of your profile and your Reel will then have the chance to appear under Top Reels even after the 24 hours they appear in your story.
How do Reels affect the use of Instagram?
Reels may seem like stories, but unlike stories that are spontaneous and often show a stripped-down personal page of the user, Reels gives you the opportunity to plan your videos and capture the audience in a new way.
Advertising on Reels
As with stories and feeds on Instagram, there is the opportunity to advertise between users’ reels, something that companies can benefit from, perhaps especially at the beginning of the launch when competition for advertising space is not as great.
